Feel the momentum that has been the Chicago White Sox Logan this season and fans definitely seem to be feeling it today as the South Siders continue their postseason run, they took games one and 2 in Cleveland and return home.
One win away from heading to the American League Championship series.
It would be their first trip to the ALCS since 2005 when they last won the World Series.
Now the Sox may be trailing 5 to 3 right now in the 7th inning.
But there is still time to turn things around.
Our joint Hernandez joins us now from outside Rate Field where she spent the day with fans.
Joanna, what's the energy been like there?
>> Brent, is the energy has been electric.
I mean, it's a sold out game.
You can literally hear people screaming from inside the stadium.
I spoke with people who traveled from Mexico, others who've been season ticket holders for years.
One woman sharing that she had her wedding reception during one of the games.
I mean, these are real diehard White Sox fans.
And I got to feel some of that excitement right here in the parking lot as fans gather to tailgate ahead of the game.
>> They're always the underdogs and they're the ones that people in Chicago.
Forget talk about the North Siders and we're all like, but there's another TV here.
>> We have a chance.
Finally, if really good, you know, the visor really, it's up there.
You know, we're going to have a lot of time.
Enjoy the vines.
There's a lot of people out here right now.
have so much I missed it.
I miss They've always been a pie, a part of my television viewing like between April and October.
I don't watch TV much by at night.
since the Duke Allen era.
>> I mean, there was such a diverse crowd this morning in one corner, you have people cooking, got a mask on and the and the other.
You have people cooking old fashion, hot dogs and burgers all coming together to cheer for the same team.
The reality is a team has been through some really, really bad years.
So this post season carries many different emotions for the fans and it echoes of 2005.
It's the last time the team won a World Series and for some fans here, those memories are personal, including for one fan who says he was here when the Sox made their championship run.
>> I was You were there.
>> Called me out of school to 3rd grade 3rd How was that when you remember about that time?
I remember the White Sox winning a game and I got showered and beer.
I remember it.
And the stadium one crazy every single time he threw a strike.
That was awesome.
>> Now there's another piece of history fans are talking about.
If they win today, it will be the first time they've clinched a postseason series at home since 19.
0, 6, That's 120 years ago.
That's why the current playoff run feels so special to longtime fans.
I spoke with another fan who goes by Socks.
Chick.
She says she started working at the stadium when she was 14 years old over the years that grew into a love for the team and eventually a platform of her own.
This season alone, she followed the Sox to 6 different games.
>> I got by more different parents.
This for different White Sox players.
Parents follow me social media because 2 of them came out of my seat and told me that I say what you do and thank you my side.
>> Receipts show support and energy great.
They're getting their just they change some players are we need to be changed.
And this new coach is great.
no complaints to keep it coming.
You got to represent pope.
Had the vote, represents the White Sox and I've become years.
I've been waiting for these winds like this.
What did it feel like when the poll basically was like I'm a White Sox fan to remember that feeling?
>> Yes, it was exorbitant.
I still got to fill in all the fans still have the field and that's why we like this.
>> Now some fans believe that it can pull its been.
Pope Leo's prayers has been given this team a boost.
But whatever it is, it's been so refreshing to see fans come together and packed the stadium again.
Now, if they win, they head to the ALCS and face either the Yankees or the Rays.
If they lose, they try again tomorrow at home for game 4 against the guardians and again, whatever happens, I can tell you that many of the Sox fans are happy reporting live outside the walks, White Sox stadium.
I'm John Hernandez.
Back to you.
Brand is.
>> Thanks so much, Joe.
