You actually have two types of bones.
Cortical bones are hard and dense and are the structural bones.
Trabecular bones are still hard but the inside looks like a sponge.
You'll find bone marrow between the hard bone structures and in-between the openings in the spongy bone.
Bone marrow is found inside bones like your hips, pelvis, spine, and femur.
Bone marrow is where the many of your body's important cells are grown.
For example, blood cells come from your bone marrow.
Bones are designed to be in constant use.
They have to be able to absorb two to three times your body's weight.
And considering you take 1 to 3 million steps a year, your skeletal system takes a real beating.
Bones can break, and if you do, your body starts producing new bone cells to heal it.
Doctor use a cast or brace just to make sure that the bone heals straight.
And while your bones are strong, your teeth are stronger.
Teeth are considered part of the skeletal system.
